Question:
How can I run Windows software on a Mac?
Answer: There are two ways to do
this - Multi-Boot and Virtualization
Multi Boot
Newer Macs have Intel processors that can run Windows just like
a Windows PC. Apple makes software called Boot Camp that
makes it possible to "boot" a Mac into a Windows session and run
Windows.
A copy of Windows is required for this purpose. Windows is
installed on its own partition and the computer boots to
Windows. At that point, any Windows software can be used.
Virtualization
Virtualization involves running a Windows "session" within a Mac
window. This is possible with products like
Parallels ,
Virtual Box
and
VM Ware Fusion. All make it possible to run Windows on
a Mac within a Windows on the Mac Desktop.
A copy of Windows is required and gets installed using the
Virtualization software.
This is for Advanced Mac users only, and we strongly recommend
that before purchasing a Windows product, it should be tried on
a Mac before its is purchased.
