There are two types of printing problems that you may encounter while using Easy-Recruiter: System Printing Problems and Application-Specific Printing Problems. Printer problems are often the most difficult problems to pinpoint. Since Easy-Recruiter uses the Windows printing system, serious printing problems, such as a report that refuses to print, or a report that prints "garbage" will often not be unique to Easy-Recruiter, but rather the result of System problems, Default Printer problems or what are commonly referred to as "Print Driver problems".

System Printing Problems

To determine if your printing problem is a System problem or an Application-Specific problem, try the following:

  1. Close Easy-Recruiter and Restart your computer

  2. From your Start Menu, Select Printers (or Select Printers and Faxes from your Control Panel). Open your default printer by double clicking on the printer name. Make sure there are no "print jobs" waiting to be printed. If there are, either print them or select Cancel All Print Jobs. Also, make sure that Pause Printing is not selected. If it is, deselect it.

  3. Open Easy-Recruiter, open the Athletes Pane and print the Athlete Information Sheet If the report prints correctly then you have identified and corrected your problem.

  4. If the report prints incorrectly or does not print, close Easy-Recruiter and open another software application. Try printing from this application without changing the Printer (use the default printer). If you can print from this application but cannot print from Easy-Recruiter, you may have an application specific printing problem and you should go to the next section.

  5. If you cannot print from either application, you may have your Default printer configured to print to a location that is not available (or not connected, out of paper, not "online", etc.). Since the Athlete Information Sheet on the Athletes pane can only print to your Default printer, you must change your Default printer in Windows and then open Easy-Recruiter and try printing the same report. If it prints, then your default printer setting was not accessible. You can either change your Default setting or you can change your Printer from the Reports Screen. If you choose the latter solution, to print an Information Sheet for an individual Athlete, first Search for that Athlete and then select your Printer, and finally print the Athlete Information Sheet. If you do these things and the Athlete Information Sheet prints correctly from the Reports Pane, then you have resolved your printing problem.

  6. If you are still unable to print, use the Windows Printing Troubleshooter to correct your printing problems and then return to Easy-Recruiter and try printing again.

Application-Specific Printing Problems

If you have determined that you can print from other applications without problems, but either you can't print from Easy-Recruiter at all, or your reports are not formatted correctly:

  1. Try to print the Athlete Information Sheet from the Reports Pane for a single Athlete. If it does not print correctly, refer to # 7 above (change your printer).

  2. If you are still unable to print the Athlete Information Sheet, try printing another report. If you are unable to print another report, try selecting a different printer and see if that corrects the problem.

  3. If you are able to print a report, but the output is misaligned or garbled be sure you have verified the following:
    • Other applications print properly
    • You are selecting a valid printer that is connected properly to your computer,
    • Your printer is loaded with paper (or the correct type of labels (Avery 5160) for the label format used by the Easy-Recruiter label report)
    • Your printer is Online and is "ready" to receive a print job. If you are on a network, you must have permission to print to the printer selected, you must be logged into the network, and the printer must be online, loaded with paper, etc.

If you try all of these things, and you are still unable to print, or your print results are garbled or misaligned, you should report this problem to CompuSports Technical support (see Getting Technical Support).
